The woman next to me is carrying two bags full of colorful, spicy,
bright ingredients. Quick - how I can persuade a stranger on the bus to have me
over for dinner?

Eloquence
This morning I asked the driver of my shuttle if he wanted to see my "thingy".
I meant "bus pass" but judging from his enthusiastic look he
completely misunderstood me.
One must strive for eloquence, even early in the
morning.
Anthropologist
Recent chat on bus. Couple discussing Halloween outfits.
Her: We should wear 80s clothes!
Him: Yeah! Daisy dukes!
Me: Sorry to interfere. Daisy dukes are late 70s.
Her: Really? What is 80s?
Me: Big shoulder pads.
Him: Wow! Awesome! How do you know!?
Me: I'm an anthropologist.
Her: Wow! Really?
Me: No.
Sigh.

Multitasking
The guy behind me on the bus is wearing headphones, singing very loudly,
snapping his gum and yelling to someone on the phone.
Gotta love a man who can
multitask so successfully.
Sound advice
A haggard looking man gets on the bus and sits next to me.
"I sure
done a lot of them drugs in that park there yonder".
Then he looks right
at me and adds "Never shoot a firearm in the city of SF, and never have
sex with a friend".
Got it. Thanks.
Dark art
The guy standing next to me at the bus turns to me and says "I
favor darker, more depressive expressions of art. It reminds me that life is
tenacious, you know?"
God, I adore San Francisco.
