Etymology: From Latin “amator”.
1: Based on etymology, an Amateur is someone who engages in an activity out of love.
2: one who engages in a pursuit, study, science, or sport as a pastime rather than as a profession.
3: one lacking in experience in an art or science; a person who follows an interest without attaining proficiency or professional status.
